Purple Kush [PK] Marijuana Strain Review & Info

Critical Purple Kush is a hybrid for those who like their buds resin-saturated and exotically colored. This branchy and abundant strain is noted for its purple, even black hues that form towards the end of flowering. A gentle squeeze gives glued fingers a rich coffee and soil aroma with complex sweetness.

Purple Kush is a child of Hindu Kush and Purple Afghani, two strains with classic, clear genetics and extremely relaxing effects. Although Purple Kush is a first-generation Californian, bred in Oakland decades ago, it still carries the same no-nonsense attitude and lip-smacking flavor as its parents. I’d consider its genetics exclusively indica, so be prepared to yawn and stretch quite a bit after a session.

Upon the come down, you'll be eased into a deep and powerful pain-free sleep that lasts hours on end. Due to these potent effects, Purple Kush is said to be an ideal strain for treating patients suffering from conditions such as insomnia, chronic pain, nerve damage, and muscle spasms. Purple Kush has an iconic smell of earthy sweet grapes and a taste of earthy red wine. These buds have small furry bright neon green nugs with rich purple and fiery orange hairs and dark purple undertones. These nugs are frosty with fine white trichomes and sticky with sweet resin.

Aroma
Pungent, with notes of "purple" (incense, perfume, musky grapes), and the spicy Kush end of the spectrum as well.  The SR-71 and Garberville cuts are more "purple" in both flavor and smell compared to the Kyle Kushman/Las Vegas Purple Kush.

Flavor
Much like the smell, the flavor is a dark fruity musk with a bit of sweetness at times — a great blend of the typical purple flavor and traditional Afghani/Pakistani Kush varieties.

Purple Kush Strain: Grow Info
Most would probably agree that growing Purple Kush marijuana is of medium difficulty. As is characteristic of most any 100% pure indica strain, Purple Kush grows low to the ground with a bushy figure, making it sometimes a challenging marijuana strain to properly cultivate in an outdoors environment.

Additionally, using marijuana grow tent and grow lights for weed to keep PK away from humidity and rain, as well as keeping the temperature stable. Soil grown methods are probably best for Purple Kush, because hydroponics indoors can sometimes result in an increase of humidity, becoming harmful to the plants. Hydroponics could work, but extra measures would need to be implemented, such as an around-the-clock dehumidifier for grow room, for success.

Indoors, more than two weeks in vegetation can mean a plant that gets too big to handle in cannabis grow tent. With buds ready after 55–60 days of bloom, expect 75–100cm plants producing 550–600g/m². Make sure to provide plenty of support for these 18% THC beauties. Outdoors, she will easily reach 2.0–2.5m and be ready by early-October. Heavy resin production means pest and pathogen resistance of the first order.

Is Weed Legal In California? California Marijuana Laws & Regulations

Recreational marijuana sales became legal in California on Jan. 1, 2018, marking a major milestone for the state’s cannabis industry and its many customers.

Proposition 64, the voter-approved law that governs recreational pot in the Golden State, however, doesn’t offer the complete freedom to buy, grow and smoke marijuana just anywhere you please.

In reality, the rules are fairly strict. And they are consequential for employers and employees and anyone who wants to sell, purchase, consume or transport cannabis in the state.

Who Can Buy Weed in California?
Now that we have answered the question “is weed legal in California”, the next thing that you are most probably curious about is whether you are eligible or not to make a purchase. Based on the California marijuana laws that are currently in place, as long as you are over the age of 21, you can buy marijuana for whatever purpose it may serve. You need to present a government-issued ID when buying.

If you are 18 to 20 years old, on the other hand, you can still buy marijuana but only for the medical purposes. You need to be enrolled in the medical marijuana program of the state to be able to buy weed.

The legalization of marijuana in California -- despite its continued prohibition at the federal level -- has no doubt created some confusion. But keep in mind that there are still ways to be in violation of state law, such as possessing or growing more than is allowed or failing to comply with regulations governing commercial marijuana activities.

What else should users know?
Transporting marijuana will be an issue for most users, and the law is strict in this area. Users cannot smoke in their vehicles, or any type of transportation vehicle, for that matter. If someone is going to transport his or her pot or edible, it must be in the unbroken, sealed container it was purchased in—or in an acceptable childproof container. Otherwise, opened containers must be stored in a locked space outside the cab, such as a vehicle’s trunk.

Is home growing weed legal?
It is legal for persons aged 21 and over to cultivate (home grow) up to 6 cannabis plants per household. For medicinal use, that number rises to 12 plants per household.  And the home-grow industry is increasing year on year, as new equipment and turnkey grow kits drive usage through convenience and costs savings.

However, you cannot simply plant them in your backyard. The law specifically prohibits homegrown cannabis to be planted in the garden and/or any place that is visible to the public.

No smell – No one should be able to smell your grow or smell cannabis on you. This makes you an easy target for police and marijuana haters!
No sell – Statistically, people who are growing cannabis strictly for personal use deal with far less legal trouble than people who sell their cannabis. This even applies in places like Colorado where it’s legal within the state!
No tell – Having fewer people know about your grow reduces the chances of you getting busted by law enforcement or burglarized by thieves. I know it’s hard not to show off your awesome growing skills, but this one secret that needs to stay a secret! In fact, telling someone about your grow is the easiest way to get yourself in trouble one way or another.

To ensure that your plant has the best chance at life, we suggest constructing a marijuana grow kit. This will be a marijuana grow tent that's airtight and can contain a cannabis grow light to let your plant create the nutrients it needs to survive.

Most people will end up converting a medium-sized mini-fridge for this. This is because a refrigerator can contain the smell of a plant fairly well, and also won't be too obvious in a closet.

You will need to ensure that your grow box has a full spectrum LED grow light. A typical cannabis plant will need about 12 hours of light per day, after all. You can read a guide on how to make a good grow box here.

To ensure maximum subtlety, we suggest spray-painting the box's exterior black.

Cannabis Leaves Curling Up – What Causes Curly Cannabis Leaves?

Cannabis leaves are very strong, and they have the ability to endure very harsh environment or invaders for a period of time, but the people who grow cannabis should not think of leaving the problem for a long period of time. If your cannabis plants look a bit sick, there are things to be done like possible solutions that are based on the likely issue or problems.

A lot of things can cause cannabis leave to turn upside down and these include extreme temperatures and excess of nutrients. We will discuss further about the known causes as well as solutions that address these problem areas.

TEMPERATURES ARE TOO HOT
Heat stress can occur indoors or outdoors. If you see curling and nasty-looking brown fringing, your cannabis leaves are sending you a distress signal. Cannabis plants can photosynthesise efficiently at moderate temperatures up to 28°C. Anything above 30°C and your plants are in the danger zone. Combine this with low RH and you’ve got real problems. New leaves will grow gnarly and old leaves will curl yellow and maybe even burn to a rusty, brown crisp.

Indoor growers must constantly maintain the optimal environmental conditions of your marijuana grow tent. This starts with optimal light distance for your cannabis grow light. The only way to keep the plant canopy in the sweet spot is to measure and adjust until mature plants peak in height during mid-late bloom, depending on the strain. Moreover, indoor growers can utilise air-con and fans to keep the grow-op cool.

Low Temperatures
Likewise, if the temperatures are too cold, it’s going to still lead to clawing. All types of leaf discoloration will also develop from the symptom.

Ultimately prolonged exposure to low temperatures under 10 degrees celsius will kill your marijuana plants eventually, flowers will also be loose and leafy even if they make it harvest.

So what you can do is adjust your indoor temperatures if they are too low. One solution is to add multiple grow lights for weed. Other is to add a Electric Fan Heater for Grow Room.

If you’re growing weed outdoors, you should consider an early harvest or moving plants inside at night.

Calcium and Magnesium deficiency
If you ask any expert cannabis grower, their immediate answer to this question is that your plants are deficient in the minerals calcium and magnesium. So if you’re constantly giving your plants some supplements on calcium and magnesium, the problem could be that they are not absorbing them properly due to differences in pH level. When your soil and water have low pH which means that they are too acidic, the absorption of calcium and magnesium are compromised therefore resulting in tacoing. So the solution to this problem is to monitor your pH and try and maintain at near-neutral levels of 6.0 to 6.5.

5 Most Popular Indica Strains 2020 Updated

Cannabis Indica plants which probably originated in the dry and arid lands of Afghanistan and the Indian subcontinent are generally stocky and small with ample foliage, buds, and dense branches. Indica strains are usually prescribed for the treatment of sleep disorders, anxiety, chronic pain, seizures and migraine. Known for their excellent stress-relieving and sedative properties, indica strains can be easily identified by its pungently sweet aroma and distinct hash-like flavor.

1. Blueberry
One of the most sought-out indicas in America is Blueberry, an iconic strain known for its long-lasting feelings of relaxation and relief from pain. This potent indica tastes of fresh blueberries and often instills an uplifting sense of euphoria.

2. Northern Lights
There are several Northern Lights phenotypes on the market, and all of them are top-sellers in dispensaries across the United States. Northern Lights produces resinous flowers that offer a pungent, spicy aroma, a distinctive pine flavor, and mellowing psychoactive effects.

3. Gorilla Glue
Gorilla Glue is a multi-award-winning strain, and one of the luckiest accidents in cannabis history. Resulting from the accidental pollination of Sour Dubb by an intersex Chem Sis, Gorilla Glue has been called one of the most potent strains in recorded history. The strain produces lovely, pungent flowers that are hard to miss.

By the end of flowering (as its name suggests), buds will be covered in a thick, sticky, glue-like coat of resin that will make your mouth water. Gorilla Glue delivers a powerful body high that stimulates the mind as much as it relaxes the body. There's no doubt Gorilla Glue is one of the most desirable and marketable indica-dominant strains on the planet.

4. Flo
Flo is a welcome visitor. The strain is great for combatting depression. One of its hallmarks is that it gives users a feeling of happiness. Relaxation comes along for the ride as well, but it is not such an intense high that your mind is not able to enjoy the journey. We offer Flo White and Flo OG at our recreational dispensaries in Colorado.

Flo White delivers light euphoria. You might feel like you’re walking on air. Its appearance is simply beautiful with snow-white crystals. Flow White was also the winner of the 1996 Cannabis Cup for being one of the best Indica strains. Flo OG is the greener version of Flow White.

5. Critical Kush
Critical Kush is comprised of between 90–100% indica genetics, making it almost as pure as it could possibly be. It stems from parent strains OG Kush and Critical Mass. This strain is a hard-hitter, backed by an immense THC content of between 20–25%. Such levels ensure long-lasting and potent effects, characterized by feelings of relaxation and sleepiness. This cannabinoid content is complemented by CBD levels of between 1–2%, adding more therapeutic value to an already medicinal strain.

Because of indica’s shorter flowering periods and higher yields, they have always been popular amongst growers. Shorter flowering periods mean plants mature and finish growing sooner than sativa strains. This allows outdoor gardens to exist in climates where fall turns to winter quickly. For indoor gardeners, this means more cycles annually. The higher yields also incentivize growers to work with indicas to increase profit margins. Additionally, a benefit of growing indicas is their short stature which is ideal for most in cannabis grow tent and out where space is limited and direct sunlight is a top priority.

Depending on what your needs are you may not find Indica is the strain for you, but if you are seeking a range of medicinal benefits alongside a blissful relaxing high then this is definitely the plant to go for!

For the highest yields of quality buds from Indica type marijuana, you want to grow fast and small. This means packing as many plants as possible into your grow space and limiting the time they spend vegging.

Indica weed is perfect for growing indoors by using marijuana grow tent and grow lights for weed, they grow fast and strong with thick trunks capable of putting up with quite a lot of hefty buds and you’ll be able to fit quite a lot of plants in small spaces thanks to their small stature. Once you flip to the flowering period they get two or three times bigger and most strains finish flowering after around 2 months after flipping the cannabis grow lights.

How do you use a rosin press bag?

What exactly are rosin press bags?

Put simply, they are an essential part of rosin pressing, or removing the cannabinoid oils from the cannabis plant.

They are bags, similar in some ways to tea bags or coffee filters, that act as filters to keep plant material from getting into the oil that is removed. Rosin bags are typically made from nylon mesh that is sewed together to create a rectangular bag.

They can come in a variety of sizes and micron units, which measures how fine the grate in the bag is.

How to use a Rosin Micron Bag?
Rosin Micron Bags come flat in their packaging, and must be turned inside out, which will then resemble a pouch/pillow shape. At this point, you then take your desired material, break it down into a small form, fill the Micron bag and fold over the edge so none of your product will leave the bag during the press. You then place this bag within the rosin press, and compress the plates, once the plates compress, the heat from the plates and the pressure from the press then presses out all of the oils from the cannabis flower, through the holes in the Micron Bag and THATS IT! You have fresh rosin!

When packing a filter bag with flower, begin by placing whole buds into the opening of the bag and pushing them towards the ultrasonic-sealed edge of the bag. You can push the buds down with your finger or a narrow tool. We recommend using whole buds as opposed to grinding your material because the process of grinding will actually agitate the trichomes and some of these trichomes will get caught up in the grinder teeth, reducing your overall THC content.

Continue packing until you’ve filled your bag. The bag should feel full, but not tight or overpacked. If there is excess filterbag, cut off extra material with a scissor to avoid rosin getting absorbed in the bag.

Heating Times:
The best results for producing flower material rosin came from pressing at the range of 200-225 degrees F for about 30-35 seconds.  Rosin pressers personally know their best results just from experimenting!

It is recommended to press around 160-180 degrees F for about 65-75 seconds. Our research found that this heat and time range produced the greatest yield and highest quality rosin.

Micron Size Matters

The micron size is all about starting material. The kind of starting material you use requires a specific bag.

As you can see from the image, the micron size refers to the size of the holes which the rosin will seep through.

For dryer buds, you want smaller holes to ensure less starting material in your end product.

For wetter buds, the holes are bigger because it’s less likely for the buds to move through.

How Long Does Weed Stay In Your System?

What Is Marijuana?
Marijuana, sometimes referred to as weed, pot, and ganja, is a psychoactive drug derived from the cannabis sativa plant.

How long marijuana stays in your system depends on many factors. These include how often you use marijuana, how much THC is in marijuana, your metabolism, and body fat. Depending on the test,
marijuana can show up days to months after the last use.

The first step to overcoming a marijuana addiction is reaching out for help. Withdrawal from marijuana can be uncomfortable and increase your risk of relapse. Finding support can help you safely quit marijuana and get back to a healthy place.

Weed, also known as marijuana or cannabis, is usually detectable in bodily fluids for 1 to 30 daysTrusted Source after last use. As with other drugs, it may be detectable in hair for several months.

Weed detection windows depend on how much you smoke or ingest, as well as how often. In general, higher doses and more frequent use are associated with longer detection times.

For daily users, cannabis may be detectable for several months after last use. The longest-reported detection times are more than 90 days.

Is Marijuana Addictive?
In order to be classified as addictive, a drug must be physically as well as psychologically addictive. While this is a highly debated question, in some states, marijuana is the number one drug listed as the reason for seeking treatment. It can certainly be psychologically addictive and, while the jury is still out on whether or not it is physically addictive, those who seek treatment know that they are unable to stop smoking without help – and they desperately want to stop smoking the drug.

How to grow your own weed?
For the home grower, this matters much less, and Graf says it helps someone develop their appreciation for the plant. Amid rising interest in home grows, companies have developed home grow pods controlled by smartphone apps and other more modest growing kits and accessories. With strong weed no longer hard to find, home growing is a chance for connoisseurs to grow for CBD, a chemical commonly associated with the plant’s medicinal properties, or for a plant’s terpene profile (bouquet).

The main factors to consider when you grow weed are:
Cannabi Grow Lights
Marijuana Grow Tents
Water
Ventilation Kit
Medium for growing (like rockwool cubes, only better.)
Nutrients
Understanding, controlling and balancing the above environmental factors is the key to a successful grow.

How to Grow Cannabis With Organic Super Soil?

What is an organic super soil?
The key factor in organics is soil life. A proper organic soil, in the words of famed organic soil scientist Jeff Lowenfels, is “teaming with life.” To put this into perspective, a shot glass filled with a proper organic soil will contain more individual living organisms than humans that inhabit the planet. That’s a lot of life!

Each organism within this habitat serves it purpose in the web of life (sometimes also referred to as a soil food web). This web is not only virtually self-sustaining, it also has the capabilities to both convert and provide readily available nutrients to your plants. Maintaining an organic cannabis garden grown in super soil may require little to nothing more than adding water. Take that, synthetic nutrients!

Why Should You Compost Organic Super Soil for Growing Cannabis?

Why do cannabis growers compost their soil to create organic “super soil” instead of just using “regular” soil from the store? Why is super soil better than other types of soil for growing cannabis?

“Super soil” is a term that started being used widely after a famous cannabis grower known as Subcool released a specific set of instructions for creating composted soil that delivers everything your cannabis plant needs, at exactly the right time, without needing to manage your pH or add extra nutrients.

There are many variations to this sample amendment, and picking the right one will depend on what your plants require. For instance, many choose to use vermicompost (worm castings) for their super soil. Subcool from TGA Genetics starts his recipe by incorporating a base potting mix (in his case, Roots Organics potting mix) containing coco, peat, perlite, worm castings, bat guano, and more. He then amends this mix with a handful of other beneficial organics in order to boost biodiversity while also providing key nutrients resources for cannabis.

There’s no necessity for tangled nutrients, engineered mixes, regulating pH and diverse parts that can make growing cannabis progressively troublesome or repetitive all through the growth. It is straightforward and low-effort to grow incredible quality cannabis buds in treated the dirt super soil; just water your plants and keep things under control for procuring!

With super soil, you’re re-production the condition that influences cannabis to grow like a weed in nature. Almost certainly about it “living soil” that showings an extraordinary arrangement like the most productive sorts of soil in nature. This infers considerably less work from you in the midst of your growth.

Picking the Container for the Super Soil

With a large batch of super soil in hand, select an appropriate container where your cannabis plants will grow. You have several options to pick for your cannabis plants, which are categorized into 2 containers.

Regular fabric grow pot containers consist of traditional ceramic pots that you often see in gardening stores. Other variants are made of durable plastic. Almost every regular containers will have a drainage hole at the bottom and a saucer to catch the runoff.

Air grow pot containers have a series of openings on its side as well as the bottom. This container is the opposite of regular ones in terms of high drainage and ventilation rate due to the numerous holes around the pot.

When you prepare your own super soil for cannabis, you have the opportunity to prepare a rich medium for your plants ahead of time, rather than feeding your plants on an as-needed basis using chemical fertilisers. The hard work and effort you put into preparing your own natural and organic soil before sowing your seeds will pay off big time in terms of flavour and quality come harvest.

Growing cannabis with Super Soil takes planning and patience. The initial sourcing of ingredients, mixing and composting is a big undertaking. But the end result is a LOT of great compost. Your plants will be healthier, richer in aromatic terpenes and flavonoids and more resistant to pests and rot. Your yields will be high, your buds will potent and all the work is done before you even start growing by marijuana grow tent and cannabis grow light. If you are looking for a simple, green, just-add-water system, Super Soil is the way to go.

How many amps does a 1000 watt LED grow light draw?

WHAT ARE WATTS?
Named after the Scottish inventor James Watt, a “watt” is a unit of measure that quantifies the total rate of power used by an electrical circuit. When it comes to light bulbs, the Watt has been used to measure the amount of light emitted by the source. An 80W light bulb is brighter than a 36W one. But things are not so simple when it comes to grow lighting.

Brands will often try to sell you on LED grow lights based on the Watt count alone. Newbie buyers will easily fall for this trap, thinking that a 1000W behemoth will definitely be better than a 600W LED panel. But in reality, you may end up supplying your plants with less usable light than you expected.

Anyone that has more than two 1000 watt lights in their home has probably run into the problem of how to supply power and turn them on and off. A standard 120 volt circuit in your home has a 15 amp rating, that means one light. Note: I will be using the term "120 volt" and "240 volt" to describe the two different types of circuits we will be working with only because that's the term the ballast manufactures use. They are often referred to as "110 volt" or "220 volt", actually if you measured the voltage with an accurate meter a 120 volt circuit often will be less than that an can vary. A 1000 watt light draws about 9.2 amps at 120 volts (1100 watts / 120 volts = 9.17 amps).

What is the difference between "LED Watts" and "True Watts"?
LED diodes are rated based on the amount of power (wattage) they can theoretically handle, if they are perfectly cooled. Some full spectrum LED grow light companies advertise their lights based on this theoretical wattage- we call it "LED watts". However, excessive heat generated by running LEDs at this theoretical maximum causes LEDs to degrade ("burn out") and makes them shift the color of light they are giving off, so in the real world LEDs are never run at their full rated wattage. This means that "LED Watts" is a completely useless number for comparing the light output from two different lights-- for example, you can have two "500 LED Watt" lights, with one running 100 watts of actual power through the LEDs, and the other running 300 watts of actual power.

Do you really need 1000W leds for your plants?
Usually when we use traditional led grow lights: 30--35W/SF (draw power) will be needed for veg. 35--50W/SF (draw power) will be needed for flowering if you want to get good harvest, so when you choose led grow light, you can calculate how many watt led you need.

What’s more, PAR is also very important, 300--350umol/s will be needed for growth, 700--800umol/s will be needed for flowering. It can help you judge your light coverage and light efficiency.

Phlizon 2000W COB LED Grow Light
Phlizon COB Series\

The spectrum on this light is great for every stage of growth. It has two warm white and two cool white 50w COBs that combine with a mix of 10w red, blue, white, UV and IR diodes to give you a spectrum with two peaks in the red range and one in the blue, plus a large amount of green and yellow light.

Out of all the lights on this list, the Phlizon has a spectrum closest to natural sunlight. That said, the spectrum of the BestVA and the Kings Plus (next on this list) lights are a bit better, since they don’t contain quite as much yellow and green. Plants do need both colors, but not in large quantities.

ECO FARM 440W LED Grow Light - CREE

ECO FARM 440W/680W/880W LED Grow Light - CREE

This is great bang for your buck. One of the lowest priced option of the bunch and great energy savings. The light is able to still give high PAR value which will allow for very valuable savings after a few months, so you should be able to get your $ back soon.

These lights deliver 12 bands including 2 IR and 2 UV through optical lens to maximize the PAR per watt. The ECO Farm grow lights are great for the veg cycle and you should see results quickly with the brightness of the light. The lights themselves are very powerful, but don’t give off the same kind of heat as some of the other more expensive brands/lights on this list.

Best Northern Lights Weed Strain Review

Not many indicas, maybe with the exception of the legendary G-13, have achieved such widespread fame and recognition as Northern Lights. Considered a staple strain among indoor cannabis cultivators, and having laid down her mark for many of today’s cannabis genetics, Northern Lights is still widely popular among cannabis cultivators and smokers. If you like cannabis, chances are you have tried Northern Lights or one of her variants.

Northern Lights Cannabis Appearance and Smell
The Northern Lights plant has fat, heavy and densely frosted buds, with purple and green leaves. The scent of the Northern Lights strain is deep spicy with a pungent musky odor. There is also a hint of pine and earthiness in Northern Light that add complexity to its robust flavor profile.

When lighting up the flavors of sweet candy like flavors are unmistakable. Combined with lush honey-musk aromas, hints of citrus that relax you instantaneously.

Northern Lights, formerly known as CI #5 F1, is an award winning Indica dominant strain. This strain is well received by growers, medical patients, and recreational consumers and may be one of the most popular Indica strains of all time. The strain is readily available in dispensaries throughout the West Coast and Colorado.

Known by many as a two hit and quit strain, Northern Lights slams the body into a wonderfully numbing, lazy mode. The desire to sit on the couch and listen to the call of munchies may be overwhelming to novice users even in lower doses.

When many think of witnessing northern lights in nature, they probably imagine the fantasy in some mystical locale like a Scandinavian iceberg field, or a frozen Icelandic tundra. With this image in mind, it may seem rather fitting that the aroma of Northern Lights is woodsy and piney, feeling all too reminiscent of adventurous times spent in the woods or camping on days off.

The scent of the Northern Lights strain is pungent and immediately hits your nose, occupying whatever room it is in with the smell of dank ganja, but its flavor hits upon different notes.

Upon first taste, the piney and earth-like flavor can be felt, but soon it blends into something a tad more dynamic. A sweet and candy-like flavor becomes extremely apparent, which makes for such a pleasant combination – especially for a smoke late at night.

Effects of the Northern Lights Strain

The Northern Lights generates traditional Indica down-tempo pleasures that are ideal for deep conversations with your buddies, tai-chi, meditation, and various soothing exercises, or even while relaxing on your couch and watching your favorite series.

Helps with…

  • Stress: 42%
  • Pain: 32%
  • Anxiety: 31%
  • Insomnia: 29%
  • Depression: 25%

Grow Medium
Grows well in hydro or soil, staying rather short and forming a single strong cola.  Great for SOG applications, it's also a low odor plant that's easy to grow for beginners thanks to its stature and disease/pest-resistance.

Final Thoughts on Northern Lights Cannabis Strain
The Northern Lights is one of the popular cannabis strain among marijuana users and growers alike. It is a cherished evening strain, especially for people who have insomnia. It brings a comfortable calming effect to the entire body enabling the user to transition to the slumberland with so much ease

This strain is a perfect choice for first-time growers due to its resistance and endurance in nature. It also matures very fast and does not take so much space making it ideal for indoor planting. We highly recommend this strain to anyone who wants to try their hand in growing marijuana.

In order to thrive and grow, your weed needs…
  • Grow Lights for Weed (brightness has a huge effect on yields)
  • Air (fresh air with a slight breeze is best, such as inline duct fan for grow room)
  • a Grow Medium (place to grow, soil isn’t your only choice, DWC System is a good choice)
  • the right Temperature (room temperature or a little warmer is perfect during the day, cannot stand freezing at night)
  • Nutrients (start at half as much as what’s recommended on the package)
  • Water (maintain pH for best results, soil likes 6 – 7 pH & hydro likes 5.5 – 6.5 pH)
Whether growing marijuana plants indoors by marijuana grow tent or outdoors, you will need to ensure that it gets the proper amount of these six resources. You will be rewarded with big colas!

How many lumens do LED grow lights produce?

What is the lumen in plants?
Lumen refers to a measure of the total amount of emitted visible light by a source. The total number of lumens varies according to the type of grow light, the type and number of plants, the total measurement of the area, the distance of the plants, and their height. If possible, you should also determine the current stage of your plant to know how much supplementary light you’d apply.

Moreover, if you have decided to continue the process indoors, it is a must to know the preferable amount of lumens every plant should receive. Determining the precise number of lumens prevents any damages on your plant. Thus, supplies the necessary optimal light for their productive growth.

What is a Color Spectrum?
Plants are genetically programmed to grow using sun light, which we consider to be white light, or yellowish-white light. This light looks white because it contains all of the colors of a rainbow, and when these colors are all mixed together they look white.

Scientists use wavelength numbers to refer to the colors instead of color names, which is a much more accurate way to measure the color. So a red might have a wavelength of 630 or 660. Both of these look red to us, but they are actually different colors.

Plant biologists define light in the 400nm to 700nm spectral region as “photosynthetically available radiation,” or PAR. The unit for measuring PAR, micro-mols per second (μmol/s), indicates how many photons in this spectral range fall on the plant each second. Inexpensive PAR meters use sensors that respond over the entire 400-700nm spectrum and have their own sensitivity curves that require different calibration for sunlight, fluorescent and HID lighting. All these systems are too broadly responsive to measure an LED’s narrow emission spectrum. They make HID grow light seem brighter by over-measuring yellow-green light and make LED light seem dimmer by under-measuring red and blue light.

lumens per watt
In terms of lumens per watt, today’s double ended HPS grow lights are quite efficient compared to other types of traditional artificial lighting, producing over a 100 lumens per watt.

However, when we consider LEDs, light output has already exceeded 300 lumens per watt in the lab. Like most electronics, LEDs continue to increase in efficiency and decrease in cost per lumen of output.

How to Measure LED Grow Lights?
So, how should we measure LED grow lights? The strength or intensity of the light can be measured by the total wattage of the LED grow lights. The higher the wattage, the more intense the light will be. The coverage area of a grow light is another good measure of its strength. Another measure is the photosynthetic action radiation (PAR) output of a grow light, which measures the effectiveness of a grow light for plant photosynthesis.

Benefits of Weed | Health Benefits of Medical Marijuana

There are few subjects that can stir up stronger emotions among doctors, scientists, researchers, policy makers, and the public than medical marijuana. Is it safe? Should it be legal? Decriminalized? Has its effectiveness been proven? What conditions is it useful for? Is it addictive? How do we keep it out of the hands of teenagers? Is it really the “wonder drug” that people claim it is? Is medical marijuana just a ploy to legalize marijuana in general?

What is medical marijuana or medical cannabis?
Medical marijuana is the medical use of the Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica plant to relieve symptoms of, or treat diseases and conditions. The Cannabis plant was used medically for centuries around the world until the early 1900s. Medical marijuana facts can be difficult to find because strong opinions exist, both pros and cons.

Why isn’t the marijuana plant an FDA-approved medicine?
The FDA requires carefully conducted studies (clinical trials) in hundreds to thousands of human subjects to determine the benefits and risks of a possible medication. So far, researchers haven't conducted enough large-scale clinical trials that show that the benefits of the marijuana plant (as opposed to its cannabinoid ingredients) outweigh its risks in patients it's meant to treat.

What are the benefits of marijuana?

Pain management
The cannabinoids in marijuana may reduce pain by altering pain perception pathways in the brain. This may be helpful to treat conditions that cause chronic pain.

Reduced inflammation
CBD in marijuana is thought to help reduce inflammation. In theory, this may benefit inflammatory conditions.

Sleep management
The relaxing effects of marijuana may help improve sleep disorders, such as insomnia. And improved sleep may also occur when pain is reduced from marijuana usage.

Should I grow my own weed at home? Here's what you need to know.

The first step in growing your own weed is figuring out where in your home to grow it. Really, though, it can be almost anywhere, provided that the space is dry and cool, and that you can seal it from outside light. When growing marijuana indoors, common grow areas such as closet, cabinet, a corner in a spare room, marijuana grow tent.

Choose the grow lights for weed you will use. To grow, your plants will need light provided by bulbs that provide a full spectrum of light (unlike normal household bulbs). You have several choices, but broadly speaking, high pressure sodium HPS grow lights or metal halide (ML) lights will cost less to set-up but more to run, while LED grow lights will cost you more up front, but save money in the long-run.

Indoor gardeners can choose between growing in planting containers with planting mix and using hydroponics. Hydroponic systems use a non-nutritive rooting medium like rockwool cubes that provides nutrients by adding fertilizer to the water.

Blue Grow Lights: Best Fixtures For Seedling And Vegging?

How Does Blue Light Affect Plant Growth?
Before we get to the individual reviews, I wanted to briefly explain what blue light does for plants. This post has a more in-depth explanation of the effect of different colors of light on plants.

Blue photons drive the photosynthetic reaction and blue light regulates the opening of stomata. Those are minuscule openings on that leaves that control water loss carbon dioxide intake.

The most important function for our purposes is that blue light suppresses extension growth. This results in shorter plants with thicker, bushier leaf growth. Without blue light, plants will stretch and grow spindly and weak.

When is a Good Time to Put Your Seedlings Under Grow Lights?
The simplest answer to this question is – as soon as possible! The moment you realize your germination phase is over and the seedling stage has begun, put them under grow lights for weed! The moment your seeds start to sprout is the right time to have them put under grow lights. Getting it done on time ensures that there is no stunted growth and your seedlings’ sprout grows towards the direction of the light – just like it would respond naturally to the earth’s yellow sun.

500W LED Grow Light Review

Whether you are a beginner and want to start with a low wattage LED grow lamp or you have a big grow space and want to compliment the existing lights with others, you will need quality LED grow lights. A 500 watt grow light is an excellent choice for all stages of growth, and it comes with the same features as any other higher wattage grow light.

Some of the lights are ideal for smaller spaces of up to 4 by 4 feet, though others can cover a larger grow space. The features that you find in many of the 500 w grow lights include the daisy chain system, full-spectrum light, energy efficiency, affordability, full coverage, and much more. We reviewed three quality 500W LED grow lights, and you can read on to find out what we found out.

What Specifications To Look For In The Best LED Grow Lights?

The best LED grow lights will provide a light intensity that's enough to grow your plant from seedling to harvest. That means 20 to 40 moles of light per day.

The best LED grow lights will have a balanced spectrum. Some of the worse performing lights have too much blue or too much red, which leaves you hanging for the Veg or Flowering stage of growth.

The best LED grow lights will cover the area you need covered for a good price. Take coverage area claims on lower priced lights with a grain of salt.

Can You Smoke Wet Weed And How to Dry It?

First and foremost, if you have wet weed, it is going to be really hard to grind up. If you have ever smoked before, you know that you have to break the weed down into fine nugs or even into powder so you can smoke it.

When your weed is wet, it becomes nearly impossible to break down into powder, as it will just keep sticking together, thus making it exceedingly difficult to roll a joint.

On a side note; if you need help finding a decent weed grinder then we have covered probably the most detailed buyers guide, you can find it here.

Almost Impossible to Burn

When you try and burn some damp, partly ground up weed, you are going to immediately realize how difficult it is to get it to burn.

Instead of instant combustion when you touch your flame to it, your marijuana will simply sputter and spit, failing to light up entirely. All the excess moisture within your bud will basically refuse to light at all. The eventual flame that will take hold after a while will be super smoky and very bitter.

How to Save Your Herb?

The first thing you need to rescue your wet marijuana is patience. There’s no way to force dry your marijuana, don’t put it in the dryer, don’t aim a hair dryer at it, and do not hold it out the window of your car while you do 50 down the road.

Getting your marijuana to dry properly without ruining it is a process that can take a few days. Though this may seem a long time to wait, it will give you plenty of time to think about how much of an idiot you are for getting your marijuana wet.

There is only one thing you need in the process of drying your wet marijuana:

Paper Method

  • The first thing you can do once your weed gets wet is to put it in a brown paper bag or paper towel.
  • Place the paper towel in a dry and dark place; if possible make sure that there is an air circulation in the room. You can put a dehumidifier or fan if you have one.
  • In every couple of hours, make sure that you turn your wet stash and replace the paper towel.
How To Dry Cannabis Quickly?

To dry cannabis plants, most growers use the marijuana grow tent or cabinet they grew the weed in. After cutting away some big fan leaves the plants are hung in a dark, cool place, with their bottom-side up for 7-14 days. Some growers trim their weed before they hang it up to dry, speeding up the drying process. Though most home-cultivators choose to trim their weed after it has been dried. A slow drying process usually results in a better tasting end-product, they say. Whatever you do, make sure to have some airflow and -circulation such as inline duct fan where you dry the plants. The last thing you need is the plants to get moldy in these last weeks of the growing-process.

Curing preserves your cannabis

A proper cure allows you to store your cannabis for long periods without worrying about mold or the loss of cannabinoid content. Well-cured flowers can be stored in an air-tight weed container in a cool, dark place for up to two years without significant loss of potency.

How To Grow Hydroponic Weed?

What is Marijuana Hydroponics?
If you plan to grow marijuana with hydroponics this means you’re going to grow the plants in a bathtub or flow of highly oxygenated, nutrient enriched water. Instead of growing marijuana in soil, you’re growing it in an inert, sterile growing medium such as:

  • Rockwool
  • Perlite
  • Vermiculite
  • Clay pellets
  • Coco or coco – coir

The Benefits:
  • No soil is needed, so the entire operation is easier and cleaner.
  • No nutrition pollution is released into the environment because of the controlled system.
  • Increased plant growth rates and yields with improved aromatics, potency and taste.
  • Dry spots and root drowning do not occur.
  • The water stays in the system and can be reused; lower water costs.
  • It is possible to control the nutrition levels in their entirety; lower nutrition costs and more potent specialized formula.
  • No “repotting” labor if rockwool is used.
  • Very clean, potent crops.
  • Pests and diseases are easier to get rid of than in soil because of the container’s mobility; clean, potent crops.
  • Fast total growth time.
  • Hydroponics can be used in places where in-ground agriculture or gardening is not possible, such as a bedroom.
  • Stable and high yields.
What are the types of hydroponic systems?
  • Deep Water Culture: This indoor hydroponics procedure is also referred to as the reservoir method. It is comfortable and very convenient.
  • Aeroponics: In this method of growing hydroponically, the nutrient solution is sprayed on the roots and hanged in the air. Usually, the solution may reach the exposed roots in two ways.
  • Wicking
  • Nutrient Film Technique
  • Drip System
  • Ebb & Flow :This method of growing hydroponics weed for beginners is also referred to as the drain and flow method. It is the perfect method for plants that dry off quickly. Various weed plants that grow during the dry period and the root system are still able to retain the moisture.
How to Set Up a Recirculating DWC system?
To set up your production you are going to need:
  •  several buckets of 5 gallons
  •  commercial Hydroponics Air Pump
  •  air stones
  •  airline tubing
  •  water tubing
  •  net pots
  •  growing medium: Rockwool has a tremendous capacity to retain water, which allows for good hydration of the upper root system. Rockwool can be placed within a hydroponic basket, but can also be lodged directly into the top of a bucket or tank lid without.
  •  hydroponic nutrients
Set up your grow lights.
They should start out a little higher than the height of your pots, and should have room to be raised to the final height of your plants. There are a million ways to set up or hang the grow lights for weed and you will need to do what works for your grow area. The simplest method is to either hang them from the bar in your closet or you can also clamp the lights onto something nearby that is the right height.

Seedling Germination & Daily Care
Set up reservoir – Water, seedling nutrients & pH. Make sure to add beneficial bacteria
How to start seedlings – Make sure top feed is not butted directly against Rapid Rooter
Top off reservoir regularly with nutrient water. In order for the beneficial bacteria in your reservoir to make a strong, healthy colony it helps to avoid doing a complete reservoir change for the first 3-4 weeks.

What About Additional Equipment?
pH Meter: In general, most marijuana strains grow best hydroponically with a pH level of 6.0. With a pH meter, you can measure your nutrient solution’s pH daily to keep it at an optimal level.
PPM-EC Meter: This measures the water’s electrical conductivity, which is higher when more minerals are dissolved in the water. With this meter, you can prevent under- or overfeeding.
PPM-TDS: This is a more sophisticated meter that measures the amount of plant food in the water. If you want an accurate PPM measurement, measure your water’s PPM level, add nutrients, and measure again.

Black Dog LED PhytoMAX 1000 Watt LED Grow Light Review

Black Dog Led has been in the indoor gardening game since 2010. This company has been designing and manufacturing high-power, full-spectrum, and high yield grow lights.

Being one of the main makers of LED grow lights, Black Dog LED has already explained to a lot of home growers why some lights do not work, and even how other companies lie about the technology that they are really using.

Black Dog Led first showcased the real 3w LEDs with just one, single diode instead of the usual 3w3 with three 1w diodes. They were also the first to incorporate ultraviolet and infrared light, which strongly enhances the smell and taste, and it can even speed up the flowering stage.

Black Dog LED PhytoMAX-2

Black Dog LED PhytoMAX-2 1000 LED Grow Light

Powerful LED bulbs
The grow light is equipped with powerful 5-watts diode bulbs that can provide a canopy penetration comparable to an HPS grow light.

Light Spectrum
The grow light delivers a full spectrum light that is especially useful for growing cannabis. The spectrum is single allowing for a non-disruptive transition from the vegetative phase to the flowering phase.

Coverage
The device provides the biggest plant coverage among all the LED grow lights in the market.

This is Black Dog's biggest advantage, as their advanced heat management is what allows them to pack their fixtures with powerful 5 watt diodes and not suffer the consequences of their increased heat output (shortened LED lifespan and, of course, the need to cool your grow room).

To deal with the heat from the 5 watt diodes, Black Dog uses larger fixtures and the biggest heat sinks in the industry. They combine those with efficient long-life fans that are rated for 70,000+ hours (most competitors use cheap fans that are generally the first component to fail).

The cooling system apart from using quality products also features design innovations. With side mounted cooling fans, the cooling not just occurs rapidly, but also it affects the setting up of the device in a positive way.

First of all, powerful cooling fans mean that you would have to use less number of external exhausts. Since the cooling fan of the Black Dog LED is quite good, you should not need an external fan for dissipating heat from the grow room.

Black Dog incorporates the highest-quality, latest-technology, top-bin LEDs into their PhytoMAX-2 series. All of the PhytoMAX-2 lights use 5-watt diodes spread evenly over the PCB, ensuring even light distribution and coverage. This design eliminates hot spots and leaf burn, compared to other LED grow lights, which contain fewer more powerful LEDs over the fixture and can lead to hot spot issues.

Black Dog LED grow lights offer high quality equipment powered by their in house optical-cum-electrical technology that boosts yields and adds a highly attractive quality quotient to your plantations.

With such kind of intelligent artificial lighting, you have a greater scope of successful harvests, hybridization and amazing quality of produce. If you want to take your indoor cannabis plantations to the next level, I guess you should give the Black Dog LED grow lights  a try.

Best Hydroponic Reservoirs | Hydroponic Tanks 2020 Reviews & Guide

The reservoir is an essential component of any hydroponics system. As discussed in previous pages, hydroponics uses a nutrient solution (water and fertilizer mix) to provide nourishment and hydration to plants. Thus, a hydroponic reservoir is essentially the storage tank for the nutrient solution.  As we will discuss later, each hydroponic system uses a reservoir in a slightly different manner. We will then profile some of the best hydroponic reservoirs to choose from.

Consider your hydroponics tank the heart of your system. Your water reservoir, or tank, is what holds the very thing your plants need to live: the nutrient saturated water solution. Once you start looking into hydroponic tanks more, you’ll quickly realize that they’re more complicated than simply being a tub where you hold your nutrient solution. And that can get overwhelming.

Hydroponics tanks are more or less the same in design and function, in essence. Naturally they hold the water and nutrients that will be delivered to your plants. How they do that is slightly different depending on the type of hydroponic system.

One of the lowest priced option of the bunch and great energy savings.

Best LED Grow Lights For Succulents

Do succulents need grow lights indoors during the winter?
The short answer is, not necessarily – but it can be a good idea. If you have a window that gets bright light all day your succulents will likely survive just fine over the winter. However, the days do get shorter so they won’t get as much light as they did in the summer.

If succulents don’t get enough light they start to stretch out and lose their bright colors and compact shape. They are still alive, and otherwise healthy, they’d just like more light. Often the shorter days in the winter will cause succulents to stretch.

Can Succulents Grow in Fluorescent Grow Lights?
Yes, succulents are sun-loving plants. Even if you live in a place where you have long winters, you can grow succulents using grow lights.

Succulents can grow using the indoor grow lights instead of sunlight. Humans need sunlight to get Vitamin D. Unlike us humans; succulents only need light for the photosynthesis

As long as the correct quantity of light is given, succulents can be grown using grow lights.

Red and Blue Spectrum Dimmable Grow Light
We’ll admit it—red and blue spectrum grow lights give off a purple glow that can be a little distracting. But we use them because they’re the absolute best lights for our succulents. Your succulents require red and blue light to both grow and flower, so this light will give them exactly what they require. One reviewer said that her string of hearts plant grew significantly after being under this grow light for just one month, so red and blue light really works!

Understanding Lumens, Lux and PAR Differences in Grow Lights

LED lights require new thinking about the way we measure light spectrum for use by plants. The typical rating most growers are familiar with is the “lumen”. The definition of the lumen is the total light produced within the range of the human visual response. It tells us nothing about the distribution of that light energy over the spectrum, and most importantly, it doesn’t tell us how much is useful for plants.

Most growers are familiar with “lumens”. The definition of the lumen is the total light produced within the range of the human visual response. It tells us nothing about the distribution of that light over the spectrum, and even more importantly, it tells us nothing about how much of that light is useful for plants.

The problem with lumens is especially pronounced when measuring light at the far ends of the human visual response curve. For example, take three lamps - a red one, a green one and a blue one - each emitting the same number of watts of optical energy. The red lamp and the blue lamp would have much lower lumen ratings compared to the green lamp, simply because the human visual response is very low at red and blue and highest at green so that is why a high lumen rating does not necessarily make a lamp better suited to growing plants.

Lux
Lux tells you how many lumens fall on each square metre of a surface. So, an illumination of 50,000 lux is 50,000 lumens falling on each square metre

Lux measurements tell you how intense your grow lamps are...this’ll help you:

Choose how far to mount your light from your plants.
Get an idea of light degradation.
However, lux still won’t tell you how useful a grow light is to your plant.

What Is PAR?
PAR, which stands for Photosynthetically Active Radiation, describes the waveband between 400 and 700 nm. This is the light that is used by plants for photosynthesis.

Thus, the focus of PAR is on light wavelengths that the plant interacts with during the process of photosynthesis.

This wave band overlaps with the visible spectrum used in lumen calculation.

Sensors used to measure PAR use one of two different weighting methods in arriving at the final value: the PPF (photosynthetic photon flux) and the YPF (yield photon flux).

Which is a better indicator for plants?
From a plant’s perspective, they require light that is useful for photosynthesis but not the one that is brighter for humans. The human eye has peak sensitivity for yellow and green wavelengths but these colors are not as effective in plant growth.

Traditional bulbs may have high light intensity, i.e lumens, but may not have high PAR or PPF values. This is one of the reasons why traditional bulbs are poor choices for indoor plant cultivation. While choosing better grow light for plants, higher value is given to wavelengths that promote plant growth and development. That means, in grow light selection, higher preference is given to PAR rating than lumen/lux value.
